Room 13 rate Cut the Blue Wire – and STNF bags it up
Yup – tis official, Room 13 clearly know their stuff and have rated their recent Everest single (out on Alcopop a few weeks ago via digital download only – buy here
-) 10 out of 13… I won’t cut and paste the whole review, which can be read over here, but fo’ sho’ it’s a cracker:
“Exposing enough aggressive venom to have mosh pits swarming and fists frantically punching the air, CTBW sweep in with a killer blow as they release pop hooks that wield a fatal blow as ‘Everest’ lives up to its name with a sound that is undeniably huge.”
Look out for an EP on its way with summer!
Meanwhile, our erstwhile pals at the deliciously monikerd shitthreadsnofriends blog (who seem to specialise in scantily clad girls and boys pouting a lot, along with hot nuns in tights – good subject matter no denying), have picked up on my dazzling bag (it really is dazzling) that I found for 4 sheets in a bizarre Bristol bar sale, and run with the, I quote, “rock cum camp disco style”. Bangin’
We like Rock.. We like Midgets – and they like Cut The Blue Wire!
See…? Awesome! Look out for the EP released on Alcopop in the summer… Or buy teh single from iTunes now, Now, NOW (for 79p)…
“The sure sign of a top draw single is that it leaves the listening begging for more, a trick which is executed with consummate skill here by Portsmouth-based five-piece Cut the Blue Wire. ‘Everest’ is positively brimming with same kind of youthful exuberance and towering ambition that fellow up-and-comers In Case of Fire are dripping with, as effervescent verses fizz along and blend effortlessly into a toweringly infectious chorus. With a six track EP due for release in July, summer simply can’t come quick enough on this evidence.”

‘Cut the Blue Wire’ – Everest digital single out today!
Follow the button and download Cut the Blue Wire’s new single ‘Everest’ – exclusively available on pretty much every download site there is, and ready to reinvigorate your belief that summer’s on its way.
Punchy as f**k, and pretty much the best thing to come out of Portsmouth since the HMS Victory, these boys will rock you hard. Soaring vocals, and a chorus so immediate you’ve already heard it – I’m no reviewer, but I insist you check out the MySpace.
And if you don’t believe me, pay heed to dailydischord.com -
“If you haven’t checked CTBW out yet, then make a point of doing so now.”
Cut the Blue Wire single ‘Everest’ out ON MONDAY!
Fresh from an epic release show at Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms last night, Alcopop’s newest additions to a very handsome looking rosta are purveyors of Portsmouth punk-pop Cut the Blue Wire are releasing their debut single on the label this coming Monday!
Only available on digital download from iTunes, and most other download sites, ‘Everest’ is a homage to what these boys do best – and is the perfect ‘summer’s coming’ anthem! This is a band that I boldly predict will cause more sweat than the Sun across the country this summer.
Think “Sentiments of At the Drive-In, the soul of Enter Shikari and the twister ambience of Bloc Party” said The Fly magazine in their infinite wisdom… Stick the frenzied passion of Glassjaw in their and they’re not far wrong. A quick reminder that they were featured on the latest Punktastic podcast if anyone fancies a listen to that – and make sure you get involved on Monday.
And for those that don’t like downloading… Fear not because an EP and summer tour are coming seriously soon!
Check em out here…
Free Mp3, Albums on trees, bribes galore and West Coutry actors
Sorry about the lack of blog updates this week Alcopoppers – have been away for most of it, and with a fair bit in the pipeline, most of my time has been taken up with mailorders, gigs and the like (woe is me eh
). Oh – and seeing the Lord of the Rings play, which was incredibly slick, and pretty good fun – but starring a Frodo Baggins who sounded more like a farm hand from the Archers than Elijah Wood… Still, had it not been for Peter Jackson, I would have assumed that all Hobbits sounded like hey had been brought up West Country way – so it’s probably his fault.
Either way, a bit of Family Machine related news for anyone living in the Oxfordshire area or beyond – that not only are the boys treating some fortuitous types to the fruit of their musical loins by hanging up albums around the county on lucky trees, but also playing a free in-store show at Chalkys Records in Banbury on April 17th.
Also – with the new release date of Hush the Many (Heed the Few)’s wonderful single Revolve fast approaching (come on the 28th April!), Nima has requested your help in spreading the word if you’re so inclined. All his ideas are up on this MySpace blogpost over here, and if anyone wouldn’t mind popping in a request for airplay from their favourite Radio DJ, posting up the flyer online or in person – or dropping a bulleting whatever about it – we would be most grateful… What’s more, bribes ARE on offer… Your help will not go unrewarded.
Also – newest stallion’s to pop their snouts inside the Alcopop stable, Cut the Blue Wire, have a free track up on their MySpace page to download free – which is kind of them. It’s called ‘Silence of the Guns’, and it’s fuckin’ ace!
Much love x Jack POP
Cut the Blue Wire sign to Alcopop Records
Another day, another happy announcement from everyone at Alcopop Records as we can unveil our latest signings – the quite frankly awesome power-pop-punk-princes – Cut the Blue Wire!
Described by The Fly as mixing ‘Sentiments of At the Drive-In, the soul of Enter Shikari and the twister ambience of Bloc Party’ and by our pals at XFM as having ‘fierce tunes. Rather exciting’ CTBW (learn that acronym) are touring up and down the country over the next few weeks – check below for full details.
They will be making their first sojourn into Alcopop folklore with a digital single ‘Everest’ available on all your favourite digital vendors, and on a sickeningly limited (to 150) CD single, and hand-numbered and such– which will only be available at shows. This will then be followed up with a 6 track EP, out in the Summer, of which more details will follow soon.
So get down to see them next week, proudly tell all your friends that you’ve found the next big thing – and swing by the MySpace to hear what the fuss is all about!
